The WitchDoktors 60th Celebration

The WitchDoktors 60th Celebration

The Witchdoktors are legends, almost. Formed in 1992 they have long established themselves as one of the UK’s leading Rock’n’roll punk bands.

Saturday June 29th

The Witchdoktors cocktail consists of a double measures of 70’s punk (upbringing of Ramones, Clash, Pistols, Damned etc) and a good ol' full measure of trashy rock'n'roll-a-billy, a dash of 60’s Psyche-Out Garage and a bitter slice of country on the rocks!

Their 2016 LP ‘Voodoo Eye’ was produced by Pat Collier (Ruts DC, UK Subs, Wonderstuff, Jesus & Mary Chain) and Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, David Bowie, H.I.M, Robert Plant) and it sees the band’s songwriting reach a new peak. Featuring stage favourites ‘No Pain No Gain’, “New Set of Wheels’ and the title track “Voodoo Eye’, the LP captures the true spirit, energy and sonic impact of their live shows and makes this hard hitting 4th album a worthy follow-up to 2008’s critically acclaimed ‘$3 Dollar Hooker’.
The band can be currently found gigging across the UK and they are working on the follow-up to Voodoo Eye.
What the press having being saying about “Voodoo Eye”:
'The missing link between Dr Feelgood, the Hives and the Clash, they've seldom sounded as inspiringly urgent as this!' - Shindig! Magazine... the latest! (4 out of 5)
“A real runaway train of an album that captures the live energy of the WitchDoktors' - Pure Rawk (4 out of 5)
“The message is that rock'n'roll is alive and well - be it rockabilly infused, blues tinged or garage fuzzed!” - Vive Le Rock (8 out of 10)
“Voodoo Eye drinks heartily from punks class of '77, displaying the same kind of primitive yet exhilarating rock'n'roll energy” - R2 Magazine (8 out of 10)

Channeling influences such as Lonnie Donegan, Howlin’ Wolf, Johnny Cash and Dr Feelgood, the trio have played beer festivals, biker meets, Rockabilly all-dayers, weddings, museums and even appeared on telly (Dreamland Margate’s national advert and the Choccywoccydoodah show on the Food Channel).
